‘Getting ready for Christmas’ can mean a variety of things, depending on one’s circumstances and situation. On December 21 and 22, Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Church in Oglala, SD held its annual Christmas Store.

With help from members of the church, and with friends and parishes from around the country, the store was stocked with items sold at discounted prices. Shoppers were able to get a variety of useful goods: household linens, warm clothing, winter coats, baby supplies, and children’s toys. The store, an outreach of the church to the local community, gives people from the area an opportunity to have an affordable, close-to-home shopping experience. With higher gas prices around the country, this opportunity helps in many ways. For some families, it truly brightens Christmas and brings delight to children and households.

Food and other treats also were available, as church members generously operated the store and staffed the kitchen.
