Our Lady of Lourdes Eighth Grade Graduation

Our Lady of Lourdes celebrated eighth grade commencement with a Baccalaureate Mass and graduation ceremony last Wednesday, May 23.

Fr. George Winzenburg, S.J. and Fr. Peter Klink, S.J. celebrated the Mass. The twelve graduating eighth graders processed into the gymnasium to the song “Here Comes the Sun”. Students led many parts of the Mass, including the reading and responsory, prayers of the faithful, and procession of the gifts.

After the Baccalaureate Mass, the commencement ceremony began. Following the invocation, recent Red Cloud graduate Patricia Beard ’12 addressed the students with congratulatory words and encouragement for the future. This was following by the awarding of scholarships to the following students:

Admiral Ralph Earle, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – Brianna Beard

Daniel Iron Cloud Sr. Award – Joshua Yellow Cloud

Darwin Clifford Memorial Scholarship – Tyler Clifford

Edward, Mary, and Kathleen McMahon Scholarship – Cammi Bear Killer

John C. Caron, Jr. Scholarship – Nuvassie Blacksmith

Louis J. Francis Memorial Scholarship – Bobby E. Pourier

Mabel and Rod Boots Scholarship – Brittany Pettigrew

Richard L. Dennis Memorial Scholarship – Daryl Gomez

Roswell Truman Scholarship – Wayne Ghost

Sr. Carmelita Smisek Award – Tacie LeBeaux

Tea LeBeaux Memorial Scholarship – Cammie Bear Killer

William Anthony Hillman Scholarship – Joshua Yellow Cloud

Wayne Ghost received the Student of the Year award.

The graduates then received their diplomas and watched a slide presentation put together by members of the class. After the closing benediction, they were sung an honoring song by the Wakinyan drum group.
