Red Cloud Elementary celebrates 8th grade graduation

Eighth graders at Red Cloud Indian School celebrated their graduation with a Mass on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Red Cloud Campus with Fr. George Winzenburg, president of Red Cloud Indian School celebrating.

Graduates walked into a song they chose, “Waving Flag”. From there the drum group, Sons of the Oglala sang a song for the entrance of the celebrants and the smudging (Lakota purification ceremony). After the closing communion prayer, Academic awards were handed out, as well as scholarships. This was concluded with the conferring of diplomas.

The graduates walked out to a song they chose, “World’s Greatest”.
