Student Activities

Our students have a ton of energy (what kid doesn't?)! At Red Cloud Elementary School, we do our best to offer a number of programs and initiatives that extend their learning beyond the classroom hours. Our teachers, staff and volunteers lead clubs and organizations, special reading programs are offered in the library and many students participate in exciting summer programs.

Embracing technology

Students in the Media Fair Club attend the South Dakota State-wide Technology Student Fair that is part of the annual Technology and Innovation in Education (TIE) Conference in Rapid City each year. And they often come home with first-place awards! Last year, they had the highest amount of award winning entries for a middle school in South Dakota.

"The State Media Fair is a way for educators to see what the students are really creating with the latest technologies,” says Carol Krotz, a provider of Title I services at Red Cloud through the Shannon County school system.

The next American Idol?

Our students have talent! And they're not afraid to show it. We hold a talent show each year in the Little Gym, and our students take to the stage to perform dance numbers and songs that would put Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift to shame!
