45th Annual Red Cloud Indian Art Show Set to Open

The 45th Annual Red Cloud Indian Art Show - the largest and longest running Native American art show of its kind in the country - is set to open on Sunday, June 2 at The Heritage Center. More than 150 works of art representing over 70 Native American artists from across the United States and Canada will be showcased through August 11.
Since 1969, the Red Cloud Indian Art Show has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to The Heritage Center to view works by seasoned and emerging Lakota and other Native artists. The juried exhibition provides local and national Native artists an opportunity to showcase their work in a gallery, often for the first time. This year, the Heritage Center will award $7,000 in prizes in seven categories and 17 special awards.
“This year’s show features works by well-known Lakota artists like Don Montileaux and Dwayne Wilcox and other Native artists from around the country,” says Mary Bordeaux, The Heritage Center’s curator. “Our hope is to continue to provide an engine for Native artists—whether they are established or just emerging—to be recognized for their work locally and to gain exposure nationally and internationally.”
The Red Cloud Indian Art Show is open to the public seven days a week through August 11 and admission is free. The Heritage Center’s mission is to foster creative opportunities for and understanding about Native artists and art, focusing on Lakota artists and their communities.
