MR. BOB BRAVE HEART
Superintendent

Mr. Bob Brave Heart has dedicated twenty-two years to educating the children of Pine Ridge Reservation. For the last seventeen years Bob has been at Red Cloud Indian School. Bob has been a charismatic leader in the classroom and as a coach on the court, a dedicated principal, an understanding and compassionate Director of Spiritual Formation, and as of July 2003 Bob continues his service for the children and families at Red Cloud as the Superintendent of the Red Cloud Indian School .

In each of these roles, Bob has left his mark. As principal, Bob increased the academic standards at Red Cloud High School with specific focus on Math, Science, and Lakota Language. He also oversaw the development of the Lakota Studies Department which includes Singing, Cultural, and Language courses and the building of a Sweat Lodge on campus. While the Director of the Spiritual Formation, Bob helped establish a community service program which includes Operation Others, a joint project with Creighton Prep in Omaha , Nebraska that distributes food to needy families on the reservation during the Christmas Season. Currently, as Superintendent, Bob is committed to continue to provide a quality education for the students of Red Cloud School and he is focused on increasing the number of Native American teachers.

Bob Brave Heart has not only served Red Cloud School over the past seventeen years, but has been the President of the Big Foot Conference (1990-1993), a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (1993-2001), Red Cloud High School's representative to the Lakota Nation Invitational Board of which he is currently the Chairman (1993-current), and is a member of the Gray Eagle Society, Oglala Lakota Oyata, since 1999.

A proud and understanding man who is an example of dedication and caring for others, Bob Brave Heart continues the work he first committed himself to over 20 years ago, "Producing community leaders with a solid education and with compassionate heart has been my goal from the beginning as a father, a classroom teacher, and it remains my goal."
