WELCOME
The mission of The Red Cloud Indian Schools is to provide a quality education from kindergarten through high school to the Native American children on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The educational process at Red Cloud Indian School attempts to give Lakota students the skills they need to compete in the larger society while retaining the traditional values and culture of the Lakota heritage. Course work includes a basic educational curriculum (Math, Science, History, etc.) as well as courses in ethics, religion, Lakota culture, Lakota religion, and Lakota language.
Accomplishments of Red Cloud Indian School
Focused for the future:
- Enhanced bus fleet and extended routes to open doors to a future of more students
- Completed Phase 2 of technology plan, further breaking the isolation of the Reservation through the development of a computer network, Internet access, and hardware upgrade
- Further implementation of Parish Appraisal and Renewal program in the parishes of the Reservation and participation in Diocesan Synod process, to strengthen communities and families
- Focused effort to ensure a safe and caring environment for learning through development and implementation of Safe Schools Plan
Providing a nurturing environment
- Expanded Religious Education program and retreat experiences, to provide students with an education of the heart and an education in values
- Implemented Staff Retreat Program to positively impact individual lives and overall environment for living and learning
- Holy Rosary Church was selected as Diocesan Pilgrimage site during Millennial Year
- Holy Rosary Church was awarded the Millennium Religious Art and Architecture Design Award
- Provided counseling and workshop space to Human and Social Service agencies and personnel to support and strengthen families
- Enhanced use of Employee Assistance Program, to further develop cooperation and success as a community of quality service
