About the Instructor
Marilyn Carlow grew up on a farm near Long Lake, South Dakota, in the north central part of the state. Marilyn graduated from Eureka High School in Eureka, SD. Marilyn went on to attend Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Marilyn's husband Mike is a self-employed contractor. Marilyn and Mike have five children: Mike Jr., Michelle, Mikki, Amanda, and Artie. Marilyn and Mike thoroughly enjoy their grandchildren. Marilyn has been teaching for over thirty years.
Curriculum
Language Arts is attended by sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The main focus of the students is on different types of writing: Expression, Description, Narration, Exposition, Persuasion, Reports, Creative Writing, and Response to Literature. Grammar, mechanics and usage are studied in connection with the writing.
