MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR

About the Counselor
Sonja Dressel and is in her first year as the school counselor at Red Cloud Middle School and Mackert Elementary School. She worked as a counselor at Red Cloud High School for the past three years, so she isalready acquainted with many of the students’ families. This semester she is teaching Guidance and Life Skills classes to 6th and 7th grade students. Some of the topics covered include substance abuse prevention, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, career planning and violence prevention.

She lives in Chadron, Nebraska with her husband, Nick Dressel, and 16-month old son, Aidan. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999 and received my Master of Arts in Education from Chadron State College in 2002. Her hobbies include listening to alternative music, reading, spending time with family and watching movies.

Her favorite part of her job is taking the opportunity to get to know students and their families personally. She is available for individual counseling as needs arise and will assist families in finding other types of help that they may need.
