As an organization serving Lakota children and their families on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in educational and parish settings and through The Heritage Center, privacy is very important to us.  We also respect your right to privacy and we are happy to share this policy with you.

General Postal Mail Privacy Policy           

1. Mailing List:

Friends who make donations or request information are put on our mailing list.  We do purchase names and postal addresses from other respected organizations. These groups have been carefully screened through The Direct Mail Association.  For information on The DMA’s policies and procedures — or to have your information removed from all lists, please visit the DMA’s website at https://www.dmachoice.org/

2. Renting/Exchanging Names: 

We make select portions of our postal mailing list available to carefully screened organizations.  However, you always have the option to be removed from our exchange and rental lists.  If this is your desire, please email us at rcgiving@redcloudschool.org, call 1-605-867-1105 or write to us at: Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD  57770-2100.

3. Birthdates:

Sometimes we receive birth dates from various persons and sources so that we can send a card and remember you in our prayers on your birthday.  We do not share this information. 4. Credit Card Information:

We use a credit card processor for some donations.  This company does not share or use personally identifiable information for secondary purposes.  All credit card information is shredded or destroyed and is not retained without your permission.

5. Off-line Info:

All off-line information is securely stored and is accessible only by authorized staff. 

6. Special Requests:

Our goal is to provide a quality education of the mind and heart to the Lakota students of Red Cloud Indian School and pastoral assistance to their families.  We are happy to honor all reasonable instructions and requests.  We encourage our friends to contact us via telephone, mail or email at any time with concerns, changes, questions or comments.

We collect and store only the following information about you: the name of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com, if you are connecting from an America Online account, or princeton.edu if you are connecting from Princeton University's domain), the date and time you access our site, and the Internet address of the website from which you linked to our site.

We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

5. Online Profile Updates and Donations

If you complete the Profile update form and share your personally identifying information, this information will be used only to provide you with more targeted content. For children who visit our site, special rules apply. We do not request personal information about children, such as first and last name or street address and city. When kids send email to us, their online contact information (email address) is not used to re-contact them and is not maintained in retrievable form.

All information provided to Red Cloud Indian School is transmitted using SSL: (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us.  We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of Red Cloud Indian School. However, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.  While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

9. Opt-Out or Change Your Contact Information

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us through a special online form. You may choose to receive only specific communications or none at all. You may also update your contact information previously provided to us through another online form. You can not remove yourself from our database, but you can prevent unwanted communication.
