Last Chance: Campbell Soup Labels for Education Ending

posted February 26, 2016

For the last 42 years, Campbell Soup Company has offered its Labels for Education (LFE) program to schools around the country. The historic initiative has encouraged individuals to clip and save labels that schools could, in turn, exchange for educational materials. This year, however, is the last for the programming. According to the LFE website, "In the past few years participation in Labels for Education has declined and as a result, Campbell has come to the very difficult decision to wind down the LFE program."

Over time, Red Cloud Indian School has been a fortunate recipient of thousands of labels, providing books, library equipment and playground materials, according to Red Cloud Librarian Kathleen Siebrasse-Wittenberg. "The Labels for Education program was an extra way we could make ends meet," said Kathleen. "I'm sorry to see it go."

Schools are able to submit their labels through July 31, 2016 and redeem them for materials through the following year. Kathleen is hopeful the closing of the program will spur longtime collectors. "I hope the attention to the program ending will produce a windfall of labels! Maybe there are people who have been holding on to them for years to save on the postage of mailing them to us!"

If you happen to be one of those people, now is your time. You can mail your Campbell Soup labels directly to Kathleen at the following address: Kathleen Siebrasse-Wittenberg, Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD 57770-2100.
