Scott Two Bulls is excited. He wasn’t always planning on higher education, but now he is looking toward to the fall with a hopeful enthusiasm knowing that he’s on his way to play college football.

“I’ve been playing football since I arrived at Red Cloud my freshman year,” said Scott. “I slacked off a bit during my first few years at school, but I really started working at my grades once I started thinking about my future. I heard Dickinson State University in North Dakota was scouting for their team and so I applied.”

“Scott has really shown a lot of progress over the last few semesters,” said Nakina Mills, director of student advancement and alumni support at Red Cloud Indian School. “He has really put his mind to his studies and I think Dickinson State recognized that.”

When Scott picked up his mail last week, his eyes lit up when he saw something from Dickinson State University peeking through the pile. Inside he found a Letter of Intent to play on the team in recognition of his hard work on the field and his perseverance in the classroom.

“I want to study psychology while I’m at Dickinson,” said Scott. “I think it will work well with football. My goal is to be coaching on the west coast in the future, and I think studying psychology will help me better understand team dynamics and how to coach athletes.”

“I’m excited to go off on my own, off the rez. This is a great opportunity for me to do my own thing and create my own future.”
