Students Come Together During Read Across America Day

posted on March 3, 2014

Seventh grade student Lante ‘19 (center) reads Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham today with first grade students as part of Red Cloud Indian School’s celebration of ‘Read Across America Day.’ Students in the elementary school participated in games, partner-reading and many wore their pajamas while getting cozy with a good book.

Lante, who is participating in the partner-reading program for the first time this year says, “I really enjoy reading to the younger students. It’s great to hear them laugh and react to the story as we read along.”

The National Education Association's mission is to build a nation of readers through its signature program, ‘Read Across America.’ Now in its 17th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships and reading resources. Red Cloud Indian School has been participating in the Read Across America celebration for more than six years.
