Red Cloud High School's first ninth grade class was started by Fr. Schiltz in 1937. The first high school graduating class was a group of five boys on May 31, 1942. Orval Cuny was the salutatorian and Lyle Clifford the valedictorian for the class. Traditionally the male students were housed in “Red Cloud Hall” built in 1922. This building housed the boys dormitory, classrooms, and play rooms. The female students were housed in the historic 1888 main mission building which served as their classrooms, cafeteria, dormitory and playrooms. The High School students had separate graduations until about 1950. The students remained segregated in two separate buildings until 1963, when the High School became co-ed. In 1978 construction began for the New Red Cloud High School building. In the early 1980's Red Cloud Indian School became a day school, no longer housing students in the dormitory. Red Cloud Hall was dismantled for the high school building.
