Ignatian Prayer Class

The purpose of this semester-long Senior elective is to pray in the Ignatian way! Essentially, prayer is communication with God and one’s self. Therefore, this course will be about opening one’s true self to God.

Opening oneself to God may sometimes be a difficult task because it requires one to be vulnerable. Although a journey into the true self may be difficult, it can and will lead one deeper into a life of freedom, joy and love.

Ultimately this course will be about exploring this life of freedom, joy and love through the Ignatian tradition – a tradition based solely on the life of Jesus Christ.

Course Objectives

  1. The student will gain a deeper understanding of oneself and God.
  2. Students will gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of Jesus.
  3. Students will continue to learn about St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits.
  4. Students will learn Ignatian contemplation.
