Ethics: The Way and the Red Road

Instructor: Shawn Storer.

The purpose of this year long Junior class is to study ethics and morality so that students may grow intellectually and spiritually.

In order to enhance spiritual and mental growth, students will examine what it means to be moral, ethical and virtuous within the Lakota and Catholic traditions.

The moralities of Catholic Social Teaching, the Sermon on the Mount, the Works of Mercy, the Catholic Sacraments, Contemplative Prayer, Values of the Medicine Wheel, Mitakuye Oyasin, the Sacred Pipe, Lakota Values, and the Seven Sacred Rites are the foundation of this course.

Course Objectives

  1. Students will grow spiritually and mentally as moral and virtuous people.
  2. Students will increase their critical thinking skills.
  3. Students will take responsibility for their own learning.

Evaluation
Homework & quizzes = 40%
Tests, projects & papers = 40%
Class participation = 20%
