Parish News: Vacation Bible School

Our Lady of the Sioux, Oglala, South Dakota held its annual Vacation Bible Schoollast week, June 8-11, 2010 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., everyday in Brother Rene Hall.

Two Notre Dame High School Groups, one led by  Sr. Jan Berberich, SSND from St. Louis, Missouri and another led by Sr. Kathy Jager, SSND from Baltimore, Maryland, helped with event.

This year’s theme was “Under the Sea” and was geared for children ages 5 through 12. They began each day with a meal. Students went to the church for prayer, played a host of games, and did many crafts. According to one student, “It was great. We even got to play Duck, Duck, Goose.”

Vacation Bible School at St. Bernard Church, Red Shirt Table will be held June 15th through June 17th starting at 9 a.m. until noon, for youth ages 5 to 15.  The van will provide transportation. If you need more information, contact Sr. Connie Schmidt at 605-867-1518.

Shannon Grooms is a member of Our Lady of the Sioux Church. She taught Religion at Red Cloud Elementary School for four years until the birth of their oldest daughter. Shannon, her husband, and her two daughters live on a ranch nine miles north of Oglala, SD.
