Hundreds of alumni from Red Cloud Indian School coming back to campus for all-class reunion, events announced
posted on May 25, 2010
Graduates of Red Cloud Indian School will return to their alma mater the first weekend in June to celebrate where they came from and where they’ve gone as part of the institution’s first annual all-class reunion. The two-day event on June 4 and 5 will feature a number of special events and meals while honoring the rich history and work of the students, faculty and alumni of Red Cloud.
“For more than a century, Red Cloud has stood as a beacon of hope for the people of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, providing an education of the mind and heart rooted in a Lakota, Catholic tradition,” says Tashina Banks, director of student advancement and alumni support and the coordinator of the all-class reunion. “All of us at the institution are looking forward to welcoming the hundreds of graduates who have left our doors and done amazing, groundbreaking things. We’re anxious to hear more about how they have taken the values of Red Cloud and shared them with others.”
The weekend will feature a number of events, from traditional Lakota handgames and a powwow to athletic events like a three-on-three basketball tournament, golf outing and a fun run/walk. The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a Catholic Mass at Holy Rosary Church on the Red Cloud campus, followed by dinner and a street party with the music of George and the MCs.
Alumni planning on attending the event are encouraged to register here by clicking here. All pre-registered attendees will receive a commemorative t-shirt. For more information, contact Banks at 605/454-6288 or tbanks@redcloudschool.org.
