Our Lady of Lourdes eighth graders celebrate graduation with Mass, ceremony Eighth graders at Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in Porcupine celebrated graduation on Friday, May 21 with a Catholic Mass and commencement ceremony. The litury was led by Fr. Phil Cooke SJ with Fr. Rick Ebert SJ concelebrating at Christ the King Church. The 10 graduates in this year's eighth grade class processed in to Mass to a song by the Porcupine Singers, and were congratulated for their inspiring work throughout their school days. The graduates were also urged to follow their dreams as they move on to high school. The commencement ceremony immediately followed Mass in the gymnasium. Alicia Mousseau, a 2000 Red Cloud Indian School graduate, gave a speech. Also, Bob Braveheart Sr., superintendent, and Alice Phelps, principal, presented the diplomas. The Porcupine Singers concluded the event with a Lakota Honoring Song. In addition to the graduation liturgy and commencement exercises, an honoring powwow and feather tying ceremony was held earlier this month.
