Dear Friends and Colleagues, Warm greetings to each of you today! I pray that this day finds you blessed in your life and in your ministry. I write this letter with both a heavy heart and with excitement. I want to let you know that I will be stepping-down as President of Red Cloud Indian School and Fr. George Winzenburg SJ will become the next President of Red Cloud. This appointment comes through Fr. Tom Krettek SJ, the Provincial of the Wisconsin Province of Jesuits, in collaboration and consultation with the board of directors of Red Cloud Indian School, Inc. I write with a heavy heart because I dearly love the ministry that we all do to build hope, empower people, and touch lives with our deep caring rooted in faith. Believe me, it is therefore not easy for me to step away from serving our blessed effort as president. I also write with excitement because of the possibilities that this transition can mean for all the good that we hope for and all the good that we strive daily to achieve. I have most recently served as President following the death of Fr. Bill McKenney SJ and for the past 12 years. I realize that it is time for me to step away from the pressures and demands of this position and for some new energies and vision to bless all of our efforts. Fr. George comes with wonderful administrative, cultural, fundraising and spiritual gifts as a former member of the Wisconsin Province staff, former President of Marquette University High School, former Pastor of Gesu Church in Milwaukee, and most recently the Director of the Sioux Spiritual Center. I truly believe that our loving Creator is at work in this transition and tremendous blessings will result. That excites me! I wanted to personally share this information with each of you and to be the one who does so. The exact schedule for this transition is not entirely worked out but I will try to keep you informed of that. Know that as we move together into the future, my heart is with you and all the good that we do through the ministries of Red Cloud. I trust and welcome the possibility of remaining a part of our ministries in the future. Most importantly, however, may all of our efforts be strengthened and tempered by the unconditional love and hope shared with us by Tunkasila, our Creator, in the love of Jesus. Sincerely, gratefully and prayerfully, Related Links Join us in our mission of educating the mind and spirit of the Lakota people, now and for future generations. Please consider an online gift. |
