Parishioners from area parishes confirmed by Bishop Blasé J. Cupich

Bishop Blasé J. Cupich came to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation this week to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation at Sacred Heart Parish in Pine Ridge. Confirmation candidates from six parishes on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations received the gift of the Holy Spirit through this Sacrament:

The Mass was steeped in Lakota and Catholic tradition and ritual. The Mass began with a traditional Lakota four directions song and a purification. Candidates were anointed with Sacred Chrism during the Rite of Confirmation. The celebration concluded with an honoring song for the candidates.
