Red Cloud High School promotes one of it’s own to dean of students position
posted on March 26, 2010

Robin Johnson, a current teacher and social studies department head at Red Cloud High School, has been selected as the dean of students for the 2010-2011 academic school year. She will assume her new duties in August.

“I’m ecstatic to be taking on a new role with Red Cloud, working alongside our students and administrators to continue the path toward college,” says Johnson. “I believe in our mission wholeheartedly, and to be able to walk along with our students toward realizing their goals is something I’m so appreciative to be part of.”

Johnson grew up in eastern Nebraska and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. While in college, she was also a member of the NWU Women’s Varsity Basketball Team. After four years of college, she received her bachelor of science degree in history with an endorsement in secondary education.

After graduation, Johnson accepted her first teaching job in Tilden, Nebraska, as the secondary special education teacher and assistant volleyball and track coach.  Her family then moved to Gordon, Nebraska, where she still resides with her husband Dave and their two children Tyler and Haley.

Johnson began teaching at Red Cloud High School in 2004. She has taught government, personal finance and world geography to juniors and seniors. Since her arrival at Red Cloud, she has also played an active role in extra-curricular activities, including coaching volleyball and track and sponsoring the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of the NCA/AdvancED District Steering Committee as the High School Steering Committee Representative for three years.

She has attended the Aspiring School Leaders Program through the South Dakota Department of Education as well. And, she is currently pursuing her secondary administration degree at Chadron State College.

Johnson believes that it is important to maintain a strong rapport with students, parents and staff members in order to promote a positive and safe learning environment.
