Parish News: Pastoral Ministry Days All parishes on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation sent pastors to the Rapid City Dioceses Pastoral Ministry Days in Spearfish, SD on March 15 and 16, 2010. The goal of this year’s gathering was reenergizing pastoral ministers for today’s church. According to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation’s Pastoral Coordinator, Sr. Connie Schmidt; “It is a nice opportunity to connect all the pastoral ministers across the diocese. It is one of the only times we can all come together in fellowship to encourage and support one another.” The event closed with a Chrism Mass Tuesday evening at the Cathedral in Rapid City, South Dakota. Shannon Grooms is a member of Our Lady of the Sioux Church. She taught Religion at Red Cloud Elementary School for four years until the birth of their oldest daughter. Shannon, her husband, and her two daughters live on a ranch nine miles north of Oglala, SD.
