Four Red Cloud Indian School students take home honors at reservation-wide banquet Four students from Red Cloud Indian School have been honored by Shannon County at the 30th Annual Pine Ridge Reservation Student Recognition Banquet, held Monday night at Wolf Creek School. Red Cloud students receiving awards were: Santa M. Hudspeth, Eighth Grade Outstanding Extra-Curricular Award; Amanda Standing Bear, Eighth Grade Outstanding Academic Award; Saige Pourier, Twelfth Grade Outstanding Athlete Award; and Josh Huston, Twelfth Grade Outstanding Academic Award. “Once again this year, it was a delight to see so much talent in one room,” says Fr. Peter Klink SJ, president of Red Cloud. “It is always an honor to celebrate the achievements of the reservation’s youth, both from Red Cloud and other schools. We are very proud of the example they are setting forth for others.” Held each year for graduating students and their families in grades eight through twelve, the banquet celebrates students who have excelled in academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities during the school year. This year, 13 elementary schools and four high schools—both public and parochial—were represented with nominations for the eight awards given out.
