Parish News: 2009 Flea Market and Bizarre
by Shannon Grooms, Our Lady of the Sioux Church
posted on October 26, 2009

Our Lady of the Sioux Parish in Oglala, South Dakota held their annual flea market and bizarre on October 3 and 4, 2009.

The flea market kicked the weekend off on Saturday. Shoppers were able to choose from a wide variety of treasures and a breakfast was served.

The bizarre wrapped up the weekend on Sunday. There were a wide variety of games for people of all ages. Children could choose from things such as fish pond or musical chairs. For the athletic bizarre participant there was a hoop toss. The more mature attendees could try their luck with bingo. Participants could chose from wide variety of tasty treats including a fried chicken dinner.

According to Sr. Connie, “I am so thankful to all the people and businesses that donated prizes for the raffle and the bingo, and to the people who came together to work the bizarre. It really seemed like there was a great spirit of celebration among the workers and the attendees. The parish families really came together with a spirit of camaraderie to make this event possible.”

The proceeds of both events will help to pay for the day to day expenses of the parish including propane. If you are interested in learning more about Our Lady of the Sioux, contact Sr. Connie or Shelley White at 605-867-5673.
