A Night in Paradise, A Night to Remember: Prom 2008

An unexpected spring snow shower couldn’t stop Red Cloud High School’s 2008 Prom: A Night in Paradise. Held in the Fieldhouse on April 26, juniors and seniors enjoyed a fun-filled night of dancing, music and food, celebrating the quickly-approaching end to another successful school year.

Juniors from the class of 2009 spent the week putting the finishing touches on the special night, decorating the Fieldhouse with palm trees, Christmas lights, table centerpieces and tropical colors. Faculty members Peter Hill and Robin Johnson assisted in the coordinating of preparations, along with juniors Juliana Brown Eyes, Danielle Locust and Todd Janis. The students held a number of fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the evening.

The tropical theme was more than fitting for the night, given the chilly weather. And while few photos were taken outside, bulbs were flashing inside as elegantly dressed students and parents enjoyed the festivities. The annual Grand March, in which couples promenade through a tropical scene for all to see, included nearly 70 couples.

After the dance was over, more than 90 students and faculty loaded into two buses to Evans Plunge for a post-Prom extravaganza, followed by an early morning of swimming, watching movies, playing games and even exercising.
