Volleyball team plays tough, but drops games to Chadron The Red Cloud Freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams traveled to Chadron on Tuesday, September 11th, to take on Chadron. The Lady Crusaders played tough volleyball but were unable to stop Chadron, which swept all three teams. The Freshmen team lost in 2 sets 18-25, 23-25 and the Junior Varsity lost 15-25, 14-25. The Varsity team played tough defense and controlled the net throughout most of the game, but were unable to stop Chadron's aggressive serves. Red Cloud lost in 4 sets 14-25, 27-25, 11-25, 18-25. Leading Red Cloud at the net were Marque Lunderman and Lisa Bear Robe with 7 and 6 attack attempts, with 4 and 1 kills respectively as well as 1 and 3 blocks respectively. Ida Clarke had a great night serving, going 9 for 10, and Desirae Blacksmith went 16 for19 with 2 aces. The Junior Varsity and Varsity teams then traveled to St. Francis on Thursday, September 13th . Both teams came home on top with JV winning 25-16, 25-20 and the varsity winning 25-12, 25-11, 25-14. Lisa Bear Robe had a great night serving, going 22-24 with 8 aces. Ida Clarke wasn't far behind, going 11-13 with 5 aces. Lunderman and Clarke controlled the net with 7 and 5 kills respectively. Blacksmith went 27-28 in setting with 10 assists. The Crusaders are now 9-4 on the season and will host Edgemont on Tuesday, September 18th, Little Wound on Thursday, September 20th, and a Triangular with Pine Ridge and Cheyenne Eagle-Butte on Saturday, September 22.
